I know I'm not the sharpest spoon in the drawer, but I just don't want to question every post and video to wonder if it's AI or not. AI proliferation might be the end of my social media experience. I read a post from person I enjoy reading this week. At the end of it, he noted that if there were any quirky parts, his post was developed from AI. So, I am not too keen on reading him any more. Maybe younger people won't feel that way at all, and that's ok with me. I think the Biden thing about the draft is not funny, predictive, nor helpful... and could be harmful. But, the horse is out of the barn, isn't it? Interesting post. Thanks Ryan.
This is such a tiny detail in this newsletter, but I would love it if you could expand on the idea of better media literacy just creating better propagandists. Do you mean that mastering the tools of social media means becoming better at turning yourself into a brand?
To be fair to twitter, tumblr ALSO hates tiktok. a lot of people will repost videos with a disclaimer that, yeah, it's tiktok, but this video is actually good!
I mean, what fun is it to HIRE artists? Isn't the whole point to steal all of their work and years of experience all so you can then declare them "irrelevant" because you can "do it as good as them" with your A.I. toys (that only work because of the art you stole from them)? I mean, that's the point, right? Proving that those artist scum are just worthless and replaceable by machines? Why else would they have started by cannibalizing all of the copyrighted human art to begin with and refusing to compensate them for it (or even ask them)?
I like the aged wisdom you brought in the ai deepfakes as someone who was there during the first fears of what disinformation could do. The manner in which you describe the qanoner believing qanon regardless the disinformation existing or not reminds me of how most people have learned to ignore advertising. We already have the tools to sort out this stuff, but people have set themselves up.
The Christian ai bot if it's made is gonna be awesome. Just like twitter blue allowing for wholesale impersonation, they haven't thought this through. Can't wait for atheists and Bible scholars to make content with that thing.
The Instagram gory viewers link is a reminder that at the end of the day the "faces of death" vhs series is evergreen content.
I imagine there is more to the dilbert guy interview cause anyone 'trained' in hypnosis has got other weird stuff going on. Anyway it was a fool's errand for him as there is no hypnotizing @ryanpornstar
Also I’m glad for Scott Adams that he now has more time to spend on his real job, that is, charging people money for hypno JO instructions on OnlyFans or whatever. It can’t be worse than Dilbert has gotten, and unlike being a right-wing hack, sex work is an honest living!
Are those TikToks even real, though? Like, obviously they’re really from TikTok, but they both feel like they’re the Zoomer equivalent of a Las Vegas magician making Facebook shock content.
Also to the guy tweeting about the meat-and-butter TikToker: posting a still-image screenshot of a video with a play button in the middle of it is cruel, unusual, and more mortally sinful than eating raw cow genitals or whatever. Don’t do it!
A moment of uncanny valley befuddlement

I think AI content is like prion inoculation: Mark Zuckerberg is like Émilie Jaumain; he just doesn’t know it, yet.
