My Sandler theory: He made the threat because 1) he knew Uncut Gems wasn't going to win an Oscar, 2) he knew Hubie Halloween was god awful and was going to get panned, and 3) he knew he had to release Hubie Halloween anyway. If all those things are true, then why not pretend like he made this terrible movie terrible on purpose?
