I also started posting on the FB threads I run across that people shouldn't share information on them because they are data mining. The nice thing is that the way the algorithm works, it shows your posts in the threads to your friends, so I have been able to teach a LOT of them not to post there.
Because it's so hard to track these things down, they feel so dirty and scamy, and therefore, so quintessentially FB.
